Safety Technician-Construction
LocationTravel throughout the USA, as travel is required for this position.Employment TypeFull-timeAbout the RoleAUI is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Technician to support field operations and maintain a safe, compliant, and accident-free work environment across active construction projects. This role partners closely with Superintendents, Project Teams, and subcontractors to ensure OSHA compliance, conduct inspections, lead safety initiatives, and support incident prevention efforts. Travel to project sites is required. 🚧Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Inspections & ComplianceConduct routine jobsite safety inspections, SWPPP inspections, equipment inspections, and tool inspections Report findings and corrective actions to Project Superintendents and Operations teams Ensure safety signage, barriers, and required postings are maintained on-site Support compliance with OSHA standards and AUI Safety Program requirements Participate in pre-construction, project, and subcontractor meetings Incident Investigation & ReportingAssist with accident, injury, and utility claim investigations Complete investigation reports and support root cause analysis activities Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly Assist with workers’ compensation and post-incident response procedures Safety Training & EducationConduct new hire orientations and site-specific safety training Maintain safety certifications and training documentation Support ongoing employee safety education and compliance awareness Environmental & Regulatory SupportConduct SWP3 inspections and maintain pollution prevention compliance Coordinate with EPA, TCEQ, and local regulatory agencies as needed Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements Emergency PreparednessSupport emergency response planning, drills, and crisis management procedures Respond quickly and effectively to jobsite safety incidentsTechnology & DocumentationUtilize digital tools and software for inspections, reporting, and compliance tracking Maintain accurate safety documentation and recordsQualificationsOSHA 510 Preferred First Aid/CPR Certified CHST certification or equivalent 5+ years of experience required Able to build trust and provide education and guidance on safety-related topics Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, one on one as well as in a group setting Experience in renewable energy construction preferred Able to work weekends/holidays/nights – Must be flexible Attention to detail/Able to perform risk assessment and analysis Travel is required if located away from the project site.Intermediate Computer Skills (Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, Printer/Scanner etc.) Familiarity with Procore is preferred Able to stand/walk frequently (May have to climb ladders, and stairs while onsite) Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions Physical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work at heights Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds Comfortable working in active construction environments Why Join AUI?Opportunity to work on impactful construction and infrastructure projects Collaborative, safety-focused culture Career growth and development opportunities Competitive compensation and benefits packageOur Company is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all applications for all positions equally without regard to their race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, genetic information, or any disability as defined in the Americans With Disabilities Act, or for any other reason protected by State and/or Federal law.
