Excavator Operator Job Title: Excavation Operator FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Superintendent, General Foreman Updated: 2019 General Job Description: Excavator/ forklift operator working on Heavy Civil construction projects. Job Functions: The following duties are typical for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Safe operation of Excavator/backhoe /forklift • Knowledge of the Excavator/backhoe loading requirements • Effectively communicate to all site personnel. • Daily Logs • General maintenance of equipment • Identify hazards – report and correct hazards. • Follow hand signals and be able to dig around utilities once encountered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions: Technical Knowledge: This person must have the ability to communicate professionally, effectively with all employees on construction site. Physical Requirements: This position requires a person to sit or stand for long periods of time; handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis. Labor intensive work. Environmental Adaptability: Work outside in a construction environment with occasion to be inside. Qualifications and Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills Punctual Ability to work independently and self motivated Able to multi-task Positive attitude Team player Goal oriented- able to make decisions based on what is best for the employees and company Training and Experience: High School diploma or GED with 5 years verifiable Excavation experience James W.
