Senior System Software Engineer, Software-Defined Networking

For our client, we are seeking a Senior System Software Engineer, Software-Defined Networking to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space.This role will help shape advanced networking software that supports scalable, secure, and highly automated infrastructure environments. The engineer will contribute to both control-plane and data-plane capabilities, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes networking, distributed systems, and Linux-based networking foundations. The position also partners closely with technical peers to improve reliability, accelerate automation, and support large-scale operations. Strong design judgment and hands-on coding expertise will be essential to drive measurable platform and service outcomes.Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship availableCompensation: $224,000 – $356,500 annuallyResponsibilities Collaborate to evolve multi-tenant control-plane and data-plane architectures Demonstrate technical leadership through design and code reviews Develop and review software for Kubernetes networking and automation Translate infrastructure requirements into orchestration services and APIs Drive integration of Open vSwitch and OVN for large-scale operations Implement automated testing connected to CI/CD workflows Lead escalation processes and incident resolution with partner teamsQualifications BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience 12+ years of experience in designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software in C and Go Experience with Open vSwitch and OVN, including OpenFlow Production Kubernetes networking experience, including network plugins and policies Strong understanding of Linux networking principles Experience architecting distributed systems with secure APIs Experience in CI/CD practices for production services and automating testingBenefits Equity opportunities Participation in an on-call rotation Access to training and development resources Opportunity to work with leading technologies in AI and cloud infrastructure Collaborative and innovative work environmentOur client is an equal opportunity employer.
