Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float Pool position requiring 2 years of PCU experience, CA licensure, and flexibility to work across multiple hospital campuses on night shifts.Job Details• Float pool position covering PCU/IMU units across four hospital campuses (two in La Jolla, one in Hillcrest, and one in La Mesa),• Specialty areas covered include general medicine, surgical, neuro, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedics,• May float down to med-surg (MS) when census permits, and may float to the emergency department inpatient overflow (EDIP),• Patient ratios: IMU 1:3, Telemetry 1:4, MS 1:5,• Procedures include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, phlebotomy, and arterial line (A-line) management,• EMR: Epic and Pyxis,• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00),• Schedule is provided two weeks in advance on a 4-week rotation; no blocked or self-scheduling allowed,• RN will receive a call two hours before each shift with the assigned facility location for that day,Job Requirements• Active CA RN license required,• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS),• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required, with relevant specialty experience within the past 2 years,• Proficiency with IV starts, telemetry, phlebotomy, and A-line management required,• Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam (up to 3 attempts allowed),• Must be comfortable floating across all four campus locations throughout the contract,• At least one supervisory, director, or manager reference from within the past year on the applicable unit is required for consideration; a second reference within the past 2 years from a charge nurse, co-worker, or educator is also required,Additional Information• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,• Local candidates are accepted,• No RTO (time-off requests) permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment; all RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application and cannot be changed once submitted,• Candidates previously employed by this health system must be approved prior to assignment and must have been gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler,• There is a possibility of being reassigned to a new cardiology/neuro unit on the east campus if it becomes active during the contract period,
