Tool Room Technician Position OverviewThe tool room technician will have experience working in a tool room environment assisting with duties in the tool room. Working with the mold maker in the assembly of molds, conducting PM’s and repairs as needed.Tool Room Technician Essential FunctionsResponsible for all mold PM and molds being stored back on rack.Learn to inspect shutoffs and all moveable parts for wear.Replaces worn parts and or gives to lead tool maker for repair.Sets up and operates machines for minor repairs.Learn process of TIG welding, through guidance of lead tool makers.Reads blueprints and uses all tool room gauges for inspection of parts.Grinds and polish mold surfaces with proper equipment.Assist on minor repairs as needed.Learn to operate EDM and CNC equipment to complete repairs.Individual will familiarize oneself with SolidWorks and other CAD Cam programs.Works overtime as needed.Trouble shoot mold hydraulic problems.Keeps good Housekeeping.Responsible for maintaining the new PM program.Maintains above average attendance.Tool Room Technician Required Experience5 years minimum tool room experience.Grinding and tool repair proficiency.Must possess the ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, manuals, etc. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively. Ability to effectively present information to others, such as management and staff, and communicate effectively in a team atmosphere.Mathematical skills a must. (Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals). Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw rapid conclusions. Ability to interpret mathematical and graphical data.Work with abstract and variables to draw conclusions.Ability to handle multiple variables at once to aid in problem solving.Tool Room Technician Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.Ability to use hand tools.Ability to read applicable instructions.Company OverviewAt Thunderbird, the collaborative relationship with our parent and partner companies allows us to better serve our customers – now and in the future.
