Special Education Paraprofessional (Summer School)

The DaVinci community will work together to ensure positive character development and build a strong foundation for continuous learning.POSITION TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional - Summer SchoolREPORTS TO: Special Education Paraprofessional CoordinatorPOSITION OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of the special education paraprofessional is to directly or indirectly assist and support in the provision of services to students with disabilities to help them access the general education curriculum in as independent manner as possible as it aligns with the mission, vision, pillars of DaVinci Academy. The role and assignments of a paraprofessional are not defined by a particular student, setting or program but rather by students' needs as determined by the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team and dictated in the IEP.RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the paraprofessional may vary based upon specific assignment. Duties may also change at any time based upon administration or teacher examination or reexamination of student or program needs. The following is a non-inclusive list of responsibilities which may be part of a paraprofessional's assignment.Assist individual students or groups of students in performing activities initiated by the teacherCarry out the instructional programs and lessons as developed by the supervising teacher in all learning environmentsIndividually or in small groups, reinforce concepts and skills introduced by the teacher in all learning environmentsHelp students stay on taskImplement assistive technology and/or communication devicesImplement accommodations indicated by the IEP and as directed by the special education Case Manager/teacherRedirect behavior and implement behavior plansFacilitate interaction between students with disabilities and classmatesTeach and model strategies to peers about how to interact with the student with a disabilitySupport the development of communication skills.Assist the student with daily living skills and needs, such as eating, toileting, grooming, dressing, etc.Assist in transferring, positioning and mobility needs as directedProvide the special education staff with information about general education assignments, activities, and student participation and behaviorInform general education staff about student programs and adaptationsObserve, record and collect data as directedAs directed, share information with other paraprofessionalsAt the request of the Case Manager, attend IEP meetings.Provide supervision and assistance on playgrounds, in the lunchroom, at assemblies, on field trips, etc.Demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum content for classes in which s/he assistsParticipate in skill and competency trainings and in-servicesBe discreet and respectful of confidential informationPossess physical and emotional health necessary for effective job performanceWork cooperatively with all school personnelDemonstrate a warm and receptive attitude toward all studentsComplies with school district employment policiesPerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust have a minimum of a two-year degree or passing score on the ParaPro ExamEffectively communicate with students, staff, and administratorsDemonstrate excellent oral and written communication skillsExperience with different learning stylesCurriculum planning/alignment and instructional experienceExperience with differentiationWillingness to identify, interpret and follow school policies and proceduresShow initiative and function as a self-starterExperience as a paraprofessional is preferredable to stand for long periods of time, frequent bending, and ability to lift up to 50#Position InformationHourly Rate Range: The 2026-2027 hourly rate range for this position is $21-$27 per hour.Time Off: Earned Sick and Safe TimeDates: July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22Times: 8 AM to 12 PM Not Benefits EligibleDaVinci Academy utilizes the Frontline Recruiting Platform, please visit the site below to apply:https://www.applitrack.com/davincicharterschool/onlineapp/default.aspx
