We keep improving.If you are energized by joining a dedicated team that is building toward something better, for students and for each other, we’d love to meet you.About the RoleTeach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth & Space Science in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom with a focus on inquiry, experimentation, and Regents preparation.In this role, you will partner closely with general education teachers, families, and student support teams to ensure students with IEPs access rigorous instruction, feel known and supported, and make meaningful academic and social-emotional growth.This role is ideal for a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher who believes inclusion is not a program, but a practice, and who sees special education as both advocacy and instructional excellence.What You’ll DoDeliver Inclusive, Rigorous Science InstructionTeach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth & Space Science in an ICT classroom through engaging, inquiry-driven instruction aligned to NYS standards and Regents expectationsFacilitate hands-on labs, experiments, and scientific investigations that build curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world applicationDifferentiate instruction and provide appropriate scaffolds to ensure all students, including students with IEPs, can access rigorous grade-level contentStrengthen students’ scientific reasoning, data analysis, problem-solving, and academic language skillsUse student data, assessments, and observations to adjust instruction and support student growthPrepare students for success on Regents exams while cultivating confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging in science classroomsPartner to Support Student SuccessCollaborate closely with co-teachers, related service providers, and families to support students’ academic and social-emotional growthContribute meaningfully to IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and student support planningBuild strong relationships with students rooted in high expectations, consistency, and careContribute to a Collaborative Adult CultureEngage actively in feedback, coaching, and professional learningCollaborate with colleagues to improve practice and student outcomesContribute to a culture of reflection, curiosity, and continuous improvementHelp create classrooms and a school community rooted in belonging, safety, and high expectationsWho Thrives HereYou may be a strong fit if you are:A relationship-centered educator with an unwavering belief in studentsA reflective practitioner who seeks and uses feedbackA collaborator who enjoys co-planning and shared problem-solvingA teacher who balances structure, compassion, and rigorSomeone energized by building and improving, not just inheriting finished systemsCommitted to educational equity and serving diverse learners in NYC public schoolsSomeone who is willing to adapt high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) to meet the needs of your students.QUALIFICATIONSRequired:New York State Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification required, or an active pathway toward certificationBachelor’s degree requiredStrongly Preferred:Master’s degree in Special Education or related field3+ years of teaching experience, ideally in New York City schools or urban public/charter settingsExperience supporting adolescents with IEPs in inclusion settingsFamiliarity with Regents-aligned instruction, Common Core standards, and NYC special education systems (including SESIS)Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and interventionCompensation & BenefitsThis is a full-time position with a salary range of $68,902 – $95,000 (based on certification level and experience).Innovation teachers certified in New York State receive a highly competitive compensation package.
