This part-time, temporary position could become temporary-to-hire in the future as the needs of the business grow and evolve. Priority activities of the person hired for this role will include payroll for CCOHA's summer festival personnel and accounts payable, up to 30 (thirty) hours per week. Please see full job description below.The Staff Accountant supports Central City Opera House Association's (CCOHA's) mission by contributing to the organization's accounting and human resources functions. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of tasks within the Finance and Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller/Interim Director of Finance for day-to-day supervision. The position requires a professional demeanor, a customer-focused attitude, and strict confidentiality regarding all CCOHA personnel and business matters.The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and administrative duties as assigned including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payment posting, payroll, general ledger activities and ensures that current documentation for all personnel is received, recorded and maintained. The person in this position will follow established internal controls and company policies and procedures and is expected to work regular office hours in the Wheat Ridge office.Applicants are encouraged to submit materials for initial interview scheduling slots by April 30, 2026. This position will remain open until filled.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Perform accounting functions pertaining to Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and CCOHA budget codingData entry, coding, and approvals for bills and expendituresNew vendor account set upWeekly bill payment processingVerify monthly bill posting and paymentsData entry and coding for AR (pledges, payments received, deposits)Maintain employee, vendor and customer filesAssist Controller with monthly reconciliations and the preparation of monthly financial reportsEnsures state and federally compliant employee and vendor documentation intake and maintains employee files; is the expert and super-user of our online HR portal and documentation tools (currently BambooHR)Report and Manage Workers Comp claimsProcess payroll for year-round administrative staff, touring artists and performers, contractors and seasonal Festival employees and vendors. Takes ownership for contract intake and building the Festival Payroll workbook.File and pay union reports, dues and benefits in compliance with CBA agreementsFile and Pay monthly Central City Seat Tax returnFile and Pay quarterly Payroll Tax ReturnsFile and Pay quarterly Sales Tax ReturnsFile and Pay annual Property Tax ReportsAssist the Controller with preparation of external annual audit by gathering necessary account information and documentsAssist with preparation and completion of annual processes and reports including budgeting, payroll, SCFD qualification reporting, 1099s, and the Opera America SurveyAccurately file digital and/or paper documents to maintain historical financial recordsMaintain daily internal and external email correspondence with customer service approachOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of 5 years of accounting experienceCertification or degrees in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferredKnowledge of Non-Profit Accounting PracticesExpertise with QuickBooks and QuickBooks payrollStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products (Outlook Mail and Calendar functions, Word, Excel, Teams, etc)Excellent reading comprehension with ability to read and understand contracts with complex compensation obligations and work rulesCurrent knowledge of federal and state mandated employee record-keeping requirementsDatabase experienceEfficient and courteous customer service skills with colleagues and external constituents through phone, email, and in-person serviceAbility to type and perform computer data entry functions in a timely and accurate mannerOutstanding interpersonal communication skillsAttention to detail, analytical skills and problem-solving abilitiesProfessional, positive attitude with the ability to work cooperatively with a broad range of individualsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Patron-centric and customer service focusedDetail-oriented and able to manage several tasks simultaneouslyStrong organizational and analytical skillsOutstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to function in a collaborative environment while also working independentlyMust be amenable to fluctuating work schedules during busy periods, including the summer festivalEvening and weekend work and driving to Central City and other event locations may be requiredBi-lingual candidates encouragedAbility to lift 30 lbsValid Driver's LicenseEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
