Forklift Driver / Material Handler

Forklift Driver / Material HandlerA Forklift Driver/Material Handler is responsible for operating material handling equipment (forklifts) to receive, store, and distribute materials, parts, and supplies, utilizing wireless RF scanning equipment to direct the disposition of materials. This position is located in Augusta, GA.
Essential Functions

Safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (forklift) to move racks, containers, pallets, and crates
Move, locate, relocate, load, unload, and stack material in the assigned area
Perform routine daily equipment inspections and escalate issues
Gather finished orders for movement to the outbound shipping area
Ensure product is labelled and free of damages, overages, and shortages
Accurately complete all related paperwork
Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company
Observe and comply with all safety procedures and guidelines
Ensure that materials loaded to be transported are properly stacked and secure
Perform housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, removing scrap, pallets, cardboard, etc.

No travel is required between locations.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of experience operating a Forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
OSHA-endorsed forklift certification or ability to become certified
Previous use of RF Scanning equipment and Warehouse Management System (WMS)
Must be able to identify products through reading, interpreting, and scanning pallet information
Ability to understand instructions in English
Knowledge of safety practices
Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment involving tire and wheel operations is strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly sits on a powered forklift and is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The associate may occasionally be required to lift 25 pounds; anything greater than 25 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is performed in a busy warehouse environment with high forklift traffic. Warehouses are subject to seasonal temperatures. Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and vests are required personal protective equipment (PPE). One or all PPE may be required based upon the site requirements.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full Time, Non-Exempt. Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required.
