Civil Designer
We’re hiring a Staff Engineering Technician – Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) to support innovative Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with Black & Veatch.If you have strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, grading, drainage, and utility plan development, this is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale distributed infrastructure projects alongside a high-performing engineering team.PositionStaff Engineering Technician – Civil 3D / BESSAbout the RoleIn this role, you’ll support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables for BESS infrastructure projects. You’ll work with advanced design tools and collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality civil site designs.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStationCreate and modify technical drawings and engineering deliverablesDevelop proposed grading surfaces and detailed site layoutsPerform design calculations, material quantities, and estimatesEnsure deliverables comply with project standards, codes, and quality requirementsCoordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teamsReview design inputs and maintain consistency across deliverablesSupport continuous improvement, quality control, and change management initiativesProvide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and techniciansAssist with schedules, work assignments, and project coordination as neededRequired QualificationsStrong experience with Autodesk Civil 3DExperience developing grading, drainage, and utility plansKnowledge of engineering standards, document control, and design proceduresAbility to work independently under general supervisionStrong communication and coordination skillsExperience with infrastructure or energy-related projects preferredPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projectsBentley MicroStation experienceUnderstanding of civil site development and utility coordinationPrevious experience in engineering consulting or infrastructure projects
