Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) Federal FacilitiesThis position is for an armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) assigned to various federal facilities in Fresno, California. All PSOs provide armed security services at designated federal buildings and installations. Position SummaryFPS Protective Security Officers are responsible for safeguarding federal buildings, government property, employees, and visitors. PSOs perform access control, monitoring, inspections, and emergency response duties while ensuring compliance with federal security standards. Primary ResponsibilitiesSecure federal buildings and government property Protect federal personnel, visitors, and assets Control access to federal facilities Conduct inspections and perimeter checks Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies Prepare clear, accurate, and professional written reports Licensing Requirements (California BSIS)Applicants must maintain current certification through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), including: Security Guard Registration Firearms Permit Baton Permit Applicants who do not currently hold these certifications must complete required state-mandated training through BSIS prior to licensure. General QualificationsU.S. Citizen OR Lawful Permanent Resident who is: Currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces OR Honorably discharged from any U.S. Armed Forces branch (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard) Issued a valid Social Security card bearing the applicant's name and number Minimum 21 years of age Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and comprehend English Experience & Education RequirementsApplicants must meet one (1) experience requirement and one (1) education requirement below: Experience (One Required)Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience, or Minimum one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience with a municipal, state, or federal agency (retired or resigned in good standing), or Minimum two (2) years of honorable service in any U.S. Armed Forces branch Education (Required)High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution Education may be verified via DD Form 214, if applicable Job RequirementsClean background (no felony convictions or domestic violence/assault charges) Pass a medical evaluation (company paid) Pass a drug screening (company paid) Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background clearance (company assistance provided) Required CertificationsCalifornia State Security Guard Registration California State Firearms Permit California State Baton Permit Valid driver's license CPR / First Aid / AED certification (training provided by the company) Training RequirementsAll applicants must complete required training prior to standing post, including: One (1) week of classroom training One (1) week of range/weapons training Two (2) days of X-ray and screening training All training is paid Training pay is provided All uniforms, gear, duty weapons, and ammunition are provided by the company Compensation$31.15 per hour total $26.01 base pay $5.14 Health & Welfare Benefits401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Employee referral program ScheduleVaries based on operational needs Union MembershipAll Protective Security Officers on this contract are members of a union.
