Sr. Education Data Strategist

Job Overview This engagement requires a senior Education Data Strategy Consultant to lead a large-scale enterprise data assessment focused on understanding the customer’s K-12 data ecosystem through executive interviews, stakeholder workshops, and discovery sessions. The consultant will work closely with business leaders, program owners, data stewards, architects, SIS administrators, assessment teams, and reporting SMEs to identify and prioritize business questions, document key education entities and their relationships, map systems to business capabilities, identify authoritative data sources, and capture undocumented business rules. Rather than performing hands-on implementation, the consultant will produce a comprehensive assessment that includes prioritized use cases, enterprise data inventory, system-to-entity mappings, data quality observations, MDM recommendations, and a phased roadmap for building a trusted statewide education data foundation. The ideal consultant should possess deep expertise in the K-12 education data domain, with hands-on experience working with Student Information Systems (SIS) (e.g., Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Skyward, Tyler SIS, Synergy), State Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS), assessment platforms, state reporting, student rostering, identity management, and district/state education data exchanges. They should have a strong understanding of core education entities such as students, staff, teachers, schools, districts, courses, sections, enrollments, attendance, assessments, grades, special education, programs, and demographics, along with experience defining authoritative sources and establishing Master Data Management (MDM) and governance frameworks across disparate systems. The consultant should also be experienced in facilitating executive interviews, driving consensus across multiple agencies, documenting business processes and metadata, identifying data quality issues and duplicate records, and developing entity models, canonical data definitions, and governance strategies that serve as the foundation for a statewide trusted education data platform. Familiarity with FERPA, data governance, metadata management, data cataloging, and modern cloud data architectures (AWS/Azure/Snowflake/Databricks) is highly desirable.
