Mainframe DevOps Engineer

Basic Purpose: Responsible for the setup, support, maintenance, and development of software lifecycle processes for the mainframe platform. The goal is to modernize mainframe processes to a modern CI/CD pipeline methodology. The candidate must have the aptitude to write build and deployment scripts and exercise extensive independent judgment.– Candidates are required to be legally authorized to work in the United States without a sporing employer indefinitely.– This is a W2 contract role, we can not do C2C requirements.– This is a remote role, but candidates are required to live within the continental United States.Specific DutiesDesign, code, troubleshoot, and support mainframe build and deployment processes.Modernize mainframe build and deployment processes.Provide Tier 2 and 3 on-call support for mainframe build and deployment processes.Administer software lifecycle tools (e.g., ChangeMan ZMF).Identify and recommend process improvements.Document and maintain mainframe-related documentation.Support routine internal and external audits.Requirements/ QualificationsExperience managing mainframe z/OS and USS systems, with a solid understanding of overall mainframe architecture. Emphasis on automating manual processes.Experience with software lifecycle management in a mainframe environment, aiming to establish DevOps and CI/CD methodologies.Proficiency with version control, change management, and deployment tools such as ChangeMan ZMF, ChangeMan ZMF Client Pack, Endevor, and ISPW.Understanding of CICS, Db2, SQL, and SDSF.Knowledge of IBM High-Level Assembler, IBM Enterprise COBOL, REXX, JCL, and ISPF Dialog.Experience in developing and building mainframe software.Proficiency in project analysis, functional areas, and interoperability to architect solutions for process improvement.Ability to understand business problems and identify optimization opportunities.Experience in Agile Software Development Methodology.Familiarity with IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB), IBM UrbanCode Deploy (UCD), IBM IDz (or other Eclipse-based IDE), and RocketGit.Ability to coordinate technology decisions with architectural requirements and constraints, including designing CI/CD pipelines.Understanding of Quality Control and Test Automation.#DICE
