Under the supervision of the Facilities Director the Custodian will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the interior spaces such as classrooms, offices, conference rooms, athletic facilities, restrooms, lounges, hallways, and stairwells. Additionally, s/he will keep exterior entranceways and assigned building perimeters clear from trash, debris, and snow and perform other duties as assigned.Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:00pmEssential Functions IncludeClean Student Residences; sanitize restrooms; clean kitchen areas all common spaces in residences; replenish supplies; empty trash receptacles and remove recycling; sweep, dry, and wet mop floors, stairs, and elevators; wash walls, windows, furniture, and fixtures; dust, vacuum, assist with flood clean-up, and provide support for event set up/take down. General maintenance and upkeep of all janitorial machinery such as floor scrubbers, extractors, carpet cleaning equipment and other maintenance department equipment. Maintenance, upkeep, repair and cleaning of all buildings, including, but not limited to, shampooing of carpet, cleaning walls, vinyl and ceramic tile, and painting. Conduct regular walk through of all buildings.Survey exterior walkways during inclement weather and apply ice melt when necessary to make walkways safe. QualificationsBasic knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in custodial maintenance work. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and periodic stress from individuals and time deadlines.Ability to bend, stoop, lift and move furniture, walk/stand for a majority of the shift, shovel snow and remove trash weighing 85 pounds.Ability to organize responsibilities and tasks weekly in order to perform them efficiently and effectively.High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred.Driver’s license required.
