Civil/Structural Forensic Engineer

About the Position A well-established structural and forensic engineering firm in Phoenix, Arizona, has been providing structural engineering services throughout the southwestern United States for nearly 40 years. The firm offers design and consulting services for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, as well as structural failure investigations and forensic analysis. They are seeking a Forensic Engineer to perform structural damage investigations and assessments resulting from vehicle impacts, tree impacts, fire, flood, foundation movement, and changes in structural loading. The role involves identifying the extent of structural damage, collecting field data and photographs, performing engineering calculations, and developing repair solutions to restore structural integrity. Projects include residential, commercial, and industrial structures utilizing masonry, wood, concrete, and steel construction. Responsibilities Perform onsite engineering inspections and structural damage assessments related to vehicle impacts, tree impacts, fire and water damage, and damaged roof trusses. Conduct forensic engineering investigations and provide objective, technically sound conclusions. Prepare detailed technical reports documenting findings, analyses, and recommendations. Perform structural calculations and develop repair designs for damaged structures. Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding project progress, timelines, and updates. Deliver high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Conduct special inspections involving concrete, masonry, structural steel, drilled piers, post-installed anchors, and related structural components. Design and engineer residential remodeling projects involving masonry, concrete, steel, aluminum, and wood construction. Support project managers and engineering staff on a variety of structural engineering assignments. Present project updates and incorporate stakeholder feedback when necessary. Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure project quality standards are maintained. Assist in developing and strengthening client relationships. Follow company standards, procedures, and quality control processes. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or recently passed the Professional Engineer (PE) examination. 1–3 years of relevant field engineering experience. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred. Strong technical writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Calendar. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. High level of ownership, accountability, and professionalism. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.
