Aerospace CMM Programmer or CNC Programmer

CNC PROGRAMMER & CMM PROGRAMMER – AEROSPACE *Industry:* Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing *Schedule:* Full-Time, Direct Hire *Location:* Glastonbury *Pay:* $80,000–$96,000 per year We are hiring for two separate specialized positions supporting the manufacturing and inspection of high-precision aerospace components. Both positions work in a quality-focused manufacturing environment, with one role centered on *CNC programming and machining* and the other focused on *CMM programming and dimensional inspection*. CNC PROGRAMMER – LATHE & MILL-TURN We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with expertise in CNC lathes and mill-turn equipment to develop, optimize, and support programs used to manufacture high-precision aerospace components. The role involves working with complex geometries, tight tolerances, and aerospace-grade materials while supporting production efficiency and quality requirements. Responsibilities * Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis lathes and mill-turn machines. * Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements. * Develop machining strategies using CAD/CAM software for complex, close-tolerance components. * Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and work-holding methods. * Program and support machining of titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other aerospace materials. * Perform program prove-outs and support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities. * Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues. * Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations to resolve production issues and improve processes. * Optimize machining processes to reduce cycle times, improve productivity, and minimize downtime. * Create and maintain program documentation, setup sheets, tooling lists, and revision records. * Support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. * Ensure programs and machining processes meet customer, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications * 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment. * 3+ years of experience programming and supporting CNC lathes and mill-turn equipment. * Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, ESPRIT, NX CAM, Fusion 360, or similar. * Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, machining practices, and cutting tools. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. * Experience with multi-axis machining and complex part geometries. * Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, quality, and production teams. Preferred Experience * Aerospace manufacturing experience. * Experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens, or Mori Seiki controls. * Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements. * Experience with SPC and process capability studies. * Experience machining flight-critical, engine, structural, or landing gear components. * Technical degree or certification in CNC Programming, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field. *CMM PROGRAMMER* We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to develop, validate, maintain, and improve inspection programs used to measure aerospace and precision-machined components. This position provides dimensional inspection data and technical support to Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations while ensuring products meet customer and engineering requirements. Responsibilities * Develop, validate, document, and maintain CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS. * Create inspection programs using engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications. * Perform offline and online CMM programming for new and existing products. * Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CMM equipment. * Perform first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections. * Analyze measurement results and identify dimensional trends or discrepancies. * Support AS9102 First Article Inspection activities and documentation. * Validate CMM programs against engineering requirements. * Determine appropriate inspection methods, measurement strategies, and sampling plans. * Use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, and related equipment. * Investigate dimensional discrepancies and participate in root cause and corrective action activities. * Prepare and maintain inspection reports, records, control plans, and inspection documentation. * Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to improve inspection methods and product manufacturability. * Identify opportunities to improve inspection efficiency, automate processes, and reduce inspection cycle times. * Provide technical guidance to CMM operators and quality inspectors. * Support customer, source, and regulatory inspections. * Maintain inspection equipment and support calibration activities. * Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or vocational training preferred. * 3+ years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing environment. * Hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment using PC-DMIS. * Strong knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5. * Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models. * Experience inspecting close-tolerance machined components and assemblies. * Working knowledge of SPC and dimensional data analysis. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems. * Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience * Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience. * Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems. * Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements. * Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, or similar CAD software. * GD&T or quality-related certification. * ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or similar certification. * Experience with automated inspection systems and advanced metrology equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Both positions are based in a precision manufacturing environment where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential. * Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. * Ability to work in both manufacturing and office/inspection areas. * Comfortable working around machine tools, production equipment, and moderate noise. * Ability to use computers, measuring equipment, and inspection systems for extended periods. * Ability to follow required PPE, safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures.
