RAPID TRANSIT LABORER

It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.Location: Rapid City, SDJob Summary: This position will be tending to the upkeep of bus shelters and stops around Rapid City. Daily cleaning and some light maintenance and groundskeeping. This is a Part-time position.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Cleaning bus shelters and stops.Light maintenance at bus shelters and stops.Operates a city-owned vehicle to travel safety and efficiently between service locations.Operates essential equipment such as a pressure washer, cleaning supplies, trimmer, hand shears and shovels.Snow removal at shelters and stops. Some snow removal at bus depot and bus barn.Provides excellent customer service when engaging with visitors and staff, fostering a welcoming and well-maintained environment.Ensures compliance with all health and safety standards, including hazardous material handling.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) requiredMust possess a valid South Dakota driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hireGeneral custodial and maintenance experience preferredWork Environment:* The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.* The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
