Plastic Custom Profile Extrusion Die Design Tooling EngineerSummary: We are seeking a skilled Plastic Custom Profile Extrusion Die Design Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and optimize extrusion dies and tooling for custom plastic profiles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, CAD design, and plastic extrusion processes, with a focus on delivering high-quality, precision tooling solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design custom extrusion dies and tooling for plastic profile extrusion using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Collaborate with production teams to ensure die designs meet product specifications and manufacturing requirements. Analyze and optimize die performance to improve flow, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Conduct simulations and testing to validate die designs and troubleshoot issues. Select appropriate materials and coatings for dies to ensure durability and performance. Work with vendors and machinists to oversee die fabrication and ensure adherence to design specifications. Maintain detailed documentation of designs, revisions, and performance metrics. Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to drive innovation in die design. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of experience in plastic extrusion die design or tooling engineering. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). Strong understanding of plastic materials, rheology, and extrusion processes. Experience with flow simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, Moldflow) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills for cross-functional team coordination. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of CNC machining and EDM processes for die fabrication. Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. Familiarity with quality control standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
