Lowboy Driver
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lowboy Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating specialized heavy-duty trailers known as lowboys, which are designed to transport oversized or heavy equipment. Your expertise in truck driving, route planning, and equipment handling will ensure timely and secure deliveries across diverse locations. Responsibilities
Operate lowboy trailers equipped with manual transmission and various specialized configurations such as flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, dump truck, roll-off truck, and tractor-trailer units.
Load and unload heavy equipment or freight using appropriate tools such as forklifts or cranes when necessary.
Safely secure loads on the trailer to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Plan and follow efficient routes for delivery, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries smoothly.
Experience
Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a focus on tractor-trailer operations.
Prior experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
Delivery driver experience involving freight load & unload procedures across various industries.
Familiarity with route driving, load securing techniques, and safety protocols for transporting oversized or heavy equipment.
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the specific trailer types operated.
Additional certifications such as forklift operation or specialized hauling licenses are a plus.
