Job Summary:The Core Measures Clinical Nurse's primary responsibilities are to identify target patients, collect medical record information, and submit reliable data on the assigned best practice or core measure clinical indicators as directed, and to interact with patients, clinical staff and physicians to promote the best quality outcomes. This interaction includes communicating with the staff &/or medical team regarding incomplete or deficient record documentation, and the patient regarding education needs or to clarify information. These activities are confidential and may be based on pre-determined clinical indicators and study methodology to support the quality improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in advancing patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, benchmarking performance, and academic program development.The Core Measures Clinical Nurse serves as a liaison between clinical teams, research stakeholders, hospital leadership, and external collaborators, ensuring accurate data reporting, quality improvement support, and research compliance.Education:Required:Graduate of an accredited school of nursingPreferred:BSNExperience:Required: Minimum three (3) years' experience in inpatient nursing required Ability to interact with all members medical team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner Computer and Internet skills and experience required, familiarity and comfort with MS Office products is important for success in this position (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Preferred: Previous data abstraction experience Database data entry experience Quality improvement experience Training in quality improvement methodologies i.e. IHI, LEAN, Six SigmaPosition Requirement(s): License/Certification/RegistrationRequired: Registered Nurse licensure for the State of TennesseeThe Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.Preferred: BSN strongly preferredDepartment Position Summary:The Core Measures Clinical Nurse acts as a resource to support the Perinatal Grant by providing timely and accurate medical record surveillance information on pre-determined best practice core measures, or bundles, and collaborates with patients, staff and physicians to promote quality outcomes. Takes responsibility for researching the assigned core measure to assure current knowledge and rationale for recommended best practice measures &/or bundles.Primary ResponsibilitiesQuality & Outcomes Management Collect, abstract, validate, and maintain NICU clinical outcome data. Ensure accuracy and integrity of internal and external quality reporting. Oversee data submission for national and state collaboratives, including: Vermont Oxford Network (VON) Tennessee Initiative for Perinatal Quality Care (TIPQC) Develop dashboards, scorecards, and trend analyses to track performance metrics. Prepare and present quarterly quality reports to NICU leadership and hospital administration. Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives using structured methodologies.Clinical Research Coordination Coordinate administrative and operational aspects of NICU clinical research studies. Assist with study data collection, database management, and documentation. Support IRB submissions, renewals, and regulatory compliance processes. Facilitate patient screening and enrollment in collaboration with principal investigators. Serve as liaison with sponsors, contract research organizations, and regulatory agencies.Regulatory & Program Support Assist with accreditation preparation, audits, and state reporting requirements. Support grant reporting and programmatic growth initiatives.
