Company Description Henry W. Burnett MD PA is an ophthalmology practice in Winston-Salem NC, with small cohesive staff of ten in a low drauma setting with low turnover, stable long term employees and an attractive sunny office. Role Description This is a part-time to full-time , on-site role for a Medical Billing Specialist based in Winston-Salem, NC. The Medical Billing Specialist will handle billing processes, including claim submissions, payment processing, and resolution of insurance denials. Responsibilities also include reviewing medical codes such as ICD-10, ensuring billing compliance with insurance and Medicare guidelines, and maintaining accurate patient accounts. The role requires close collaboration with the physician and insurance companies to resolve discrepancies and address billing queries effectively. Qualifications We are looking for an employee who is good with numbers and attentive to detail - a person who likes to solve problems, who is curious and can look at a data set, identify variances, and explore root causes of these variances. Experience with handling claim Denials and resolving billing discrepancies preferred but not requredUnderstanding of Insurance claim processing and Medicare policies helpful but not requiredStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsProficiency in using computers. Epic software familiarity a plus but not requiredEffective communication skills for coordinating with healthcare providers and insurance representativesPrevious experience in a medical billing role preferred but not required.
