Project Manager - Commercial Solar
Our client is a well-established mid-sized commercial electrical contractor based in Milford, CT, serving commercial, industrial, and municipal clients. Their expanding commercial solar division is seeking an experienced Project Manager.The Project Manager will oversee large-scale commercial and municipal solar projects from contract execution through final completion. This role is responsible for managing schedule, budget, subcontractors, procurement, utility coordination, inspections, and client communication. The ideal candidate has experience managing complex electrical or renewable energy projects and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple stakeholders including utilities, municipalities, engineers, and subcontractors.Schedule & Work Environment:Monday through Friday60% office-based, 40% on job sites across CTMust be comfortable managing multiple job sitesDuties and Responsibilities:Manage multiple commercial and municipal solar projects (rooftop, ground mount, carport, and portfolio-based projects) across the state of ConnecticutLead project kickoff meetings and establish clear execution plansDevelop and maintain project schedules (critical path, long lead items, utility coordination timelines)Manage procurement of major equipment including modules, inverters, switchgear, transformers, and balance of system materialsCoordinate with utilities for interconnection, witness testing, and approvalsTrack project budgets and monitor costs to ensure margin targets are maintainedReview and manage subcontracts and vendor agreementsSubmit and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentationCoordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure design intent is executed correctlyOversee permitting and inspection processesManage project billing milestones and support O&M transition at project completionMaintain organized project documentation and reportingIdentify and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycleRequirements:5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction, electrical construction, or utility‐scale solarStrong understanding of NEC and electrical construction practicesExperience managing projects exceeding 500 kW preferredExperience with municipal contracts and public bid work preferredAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical schematicsStrong budgeting and cost control experienceProficiency in project management software and Microsoft OfficeExcellent communication and leadership skillsOSHA 30 certification preferredBenefits:Why join this company?Competitive base salary in the $100‐120k range, negotiable based on your experienceHealth, Vision, and Dental Insurance (through union)Paid HolidaysPaid Time OffCompany Vehicle and Gas Card401(k) with Company MatchCareer Growth and Advancement OpportunitiesApply today!
