Transports money and checks to the County Office if needed. Ensure County Park rules are followed. Inform Park patrons of park ordinances and notify law enforcement if necessary. Performs grounds keeping duties for county park properties, including lawnmowing, weed trimming, raking, brush removal, and landscaping. Performs general cleaning and maintenance duties to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and professional appearance of county park buildings, facilities, and grounds. Maintains and performs upkeep and minor repairs on equipment. Maintains building security by locking and unlocking doors. Responds to emergency call-in duties. Assist with set-ups and take-downs of county park buildings and facilities if needed. Operate County vehicles and equipment according to department procedures. Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies to support the maintenance of the county park grounds and buildings. Provide oral and written reports to Property Management Staff to ensure park needs are met. Develop and maintain respectful and cooperative working relationships. Regular attendance according to the department’s work schedule.Additional Functions Attends trainings as needed. Subject to emergency call outside of normal work hours. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Must be 18 years or older (to operate equipment). Must possess a valid driver's license while operating a vehicle on county business and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota. Must successfully complete a background check.Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Working knowledge of cleaning and maintenance methods, materials, and equipment. Must possess the ability to solve problems and determine an appropriate course of action. Must possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrams, or schedule forms. Ability to physically operate and maintain a variety of tools, equipment, and machines, including, but not limited to, commercial riding mowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, pickup trucks with trailers, tractors with blades, and skid loaders. Ability to operate all equipment and perform all work assignments in conformance with safety requirements. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with property management staff, other county employees, and the public. Ability to work under limited supervision with general autonomy in determining how objectives are achieved; supervisor generally sets operating benchmarks, goals, and objectives. Requires considerable analytical ability to select, evaluate, and interpret data from several sources. Ability to travel within your daily work assignments. Ability to work extended, evening, and weekend hours as needed. Must comply with organizational and departmental policies. Performs physical/mental demands of the work environment requirements for this position. Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours, and outside regular hours as necessary. Once the work-related purpose has been met, private data must be properly secured and stored in accordance with county policies and Minnesota Statutes.Physical Demands & Working Conditions Must be able to physically operate a variety of equipment and machines, such as commercial riding mowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers. In addition, must be comfortable with tools such as rakes, shovels, hammers, saws, paintbrushes, and a wide variety of cleaning equipment. Must be able to operate equipment effectively and safely, such as a pickup truck pulling a trailer, including loading and unloading from the trailer, a tractor with a blade, and a skid loader. Must be able to perform moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-60 pounds). The job will require extensive time spent outdoors. Will be exposed to various elements of weather. Must be able to provide suitable clothing for various weather conditions. Environmental conditions include heat, cold, humidity, toxic chemicals, dust, noise, odors, machinery, and other related occupational hazards associated with park security and maintenance. This position may occasionally be exposed to offensive language, threats, mental effort, and stress. This position frequently performs work under moderate attention to detail and deadlines. Performs duties and responsibilities in confined spaces.Hours of Work Regular attendance in accordance with the department-approved work schedule is required. 1. Part-time hours may vary as needed. 2. Expected to work up to 24 hours per week, including weekends and holidays from early May to mid-September.Equipment Utilized A wide variety of cleaning/maintenance equipment and supplies, commercial riding mowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, rakes, shovels, hammers, saws, and paintbrushes. In addition, must also be comfortable with maneuvering a pickup truck with a trailer, a tractor with a blade, a skid loader, and basic hand tools.
