Software Engineer (Backend)

Software EngineerRole Type: ContractorLocation: RemoteThis opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong backend development experience in technologies such as Java, Node.js, Go, or Rust. A background in Cybersecurity or SecOps is highly preferred, particularly for candidates with hands-on experience in secure software development, application security, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or security-focused code reviews. No prior AI experience is required—your software engineering expertise is what matters most.As an expert, you will create Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments that evaluate AI models' ability to solve complex software engineering problems, including fixing bugs, implementing new features, refactoring code, and optimizing performance. You will also be responsible for building reproducible environments and developing high-quality reference solutions for each task.A Cybersecurity/SecOps background or exposure is highly preferred.Scope of WorkBuild and maintain reinforcement learning environments that simulate real-world backend programming tasks.Develop backend services and supporting infrastructure using Java, Python, Node.js, Go, Rust, or similar technologies.Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, with a strong emphasis on test coverage.Review code for correctness, performance, maintainability, and security, while providing clear and actionable feedback.Solve complex programming challenges and document your technical reasoning to improve AI model performance.Collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team and communicate engineering decisions effectively through documentation.Preferred QualificationsStrong experience in backend software development using Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, or similar technologies.Proven experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs.Experience with debugging, performance optimization, and automated testing.Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and code review processes.Cybersecurity/SecOps experience or exposure is highly preferred, including application security, secure coding, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, OWASP, CWE, or security-focused code reviews.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience working effectively in remote, distributed teams.Familiarity with AI, data-driven, or large-scale technical projects is a plus.Compensation StructureCompensation is output-based, with experts paid per task that meets the project's quality and submission requirements. The time required to complete tasks may vary depending on the expert's experience and workflow. A minimum number of task submissions per week is required.Start Timeline & AvailabilityWe typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts who can begin immediately.
