In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needsUses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient carePlans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient careFacilitates a safe environmentMaintains required competenciesFunctions as charge nurse as assignedMaintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianRecognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriatelyEstablishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staffMonitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicatorsActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patientsSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimenOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education And Formal TrainingAssociates Degree in Nursing requiredBachelors Degree in Nursing preferredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description6VP is a Progressive Adult ICU unit with 48 beds.Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists.Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 but may vary.Our Patients include acute Adult and Geriatric patients.Work ExperienceTelemetry MonitoringRespiratory Treatments (Bipap/Cpap/High Flow)Chest tubes/TracheostomiesAdminister Critical DripsDiabetic KetoacidosisAcute Renal FailureSepsisPost Surgical/TraumaPost Cerebrovascular AccidentPre and Post Cardiac Cath ProceduresPost Myocardial InfarctionCardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug TherapyPre and Post Angioplasty and Stent PlacementPre and Post AICD/Pacemaker placementWe treat total body system disorders that may not be included in this list.We do not perform drips, vents or treat patients with open CABGsYou will do well if you have assessment and critical thinking skills and have used PYXIS and/or EpicKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities RequiredDemonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skillsHas knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical RequirementsSpeech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs Visual acuity for observation of patients Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material#CFVH-2026Required Licenses And CertificationsRN - Board Of NursingCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
