Machine Builder II

Machine BuilderAlpine Laser, a division of Machine Solutions, specializes in the design and manufacturing of precision laser processing workstations for medical device manufacturing. Our systems support laser tube cutting, micromachining, ablation, drilling, and welding of critical components such as stents, hypotubes, and catheters. As a rapidly growing organization, Alpine Laser combines advanced engineering with a hands-on, innovation-driven culture. Since being acquired by Machine Solutions in 2024, we have accelerated our growth while continuing to deliver high-performance systems in a fast-paced, cutting-edge MedTech environment.General Purpose of Job:The Machine Builder is responsible for the assembly, integration, and testing of complex mechanical and electromechanical laser workstations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring systems are built to specification, meet quality standards, and are ready for internal testing and customer delivery.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Mechanical and electromechanical assembly of laser workstations including frames, motion systems, tooling, and fixturingIntegrate pre-built electrical control panels into machine systems and complete all system-level wiring and connectionsRoute, terminate, and label electrical wiring, cables, and pneumatic lines with a high level of precision and organizationRead and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and assembly instructionsPerform system-level testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of mechanical and electrical assembliesCollaborate with engineering and applications teams to resolve build issues and improve system designsMaintain accurate build records and documentation throughout the assembly processSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly processes, quality, and efficiencyAssist with panel building and other manufacturing tasks as neededDesired Qualifications:35+ years building or assembling machines in a manufacturing environment, experience in medtech or machine manufacturing is highly preferred.Associate degree or technical certificate preferred; equivalent hands-on experience consideredAbility to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsFamiliarity with motion systems, servo drives, and electromechanical integrationStrong attention to detail and a high personal standard for workmanshipBonus: Understanding and application of industry standards (NEC, NFPA 79, IEC, CE, etc.)Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, customer specifications, professional journals, application reports, or governmental regulations (e.g., FDA/ISO standards).Ability to write clear technical reports, application summaries, business correspondence, and procedure documentation.Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, sales teams, and customers.Physical Demands:With or without reasonable accommodation, the role requires frequent standing, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle/feel/reach, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and occasional stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include ability to adjust focus and identify/distinguish colors (critical for part inspection and laser alignment/safety).Work Environment:Primary work is performed in a hands-on manufacturing and assembly environment building complex laser systems. The role involves working around mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and automation equipment, including use of hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment. The environment includes moderate noise levels typical of a production floor, with activity from machine builds, testing, and material handling. Work may involve standing for extended periods, moving between build stations, and interacting closely with partially assembled machines and components. The position requires attention to safety when working with electrical systems, moving parts, and compressed air/pneumatic systems. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required as needed.Company: Machine Solutions, Inc.
