We unite with communities to build kid-designed playspaces that can spark joy and foster a sense of belonging for the kids who are often denied opportunities to thrive.About the Community Outreach Managers Community Outreach Managers (COM) advance the mission of KABOOM! by identifying and confirming child-serving organizations for playground project grants. They are passionate about matching communities with resources that can help them thrive. The COM will support potential grantees navigate an in-depth screening process while simultaneously preparing them for playground projects. The COM is tenacious, organized, and a strong communicator.About the Role: KABOOM! is looking for a college student, recent college graduate or graduate student to support our Community Outreach Managers (COM). The Community Outreach Intern will learn how to conduct market research for viable local organizations, outreach to viable grant candidates, shadow team members, and assist in inputting, organizing, and presenting market data.What You’ll Do:Research geography-specific demographic, income and racial data to identify areas of greatest need and create outreach strategies to target these areas.Review applications from potential partners for KABOOM! project opportunities.Analyze and assess organizations for site viability, construction logistics, and Build Week execution.Draft professional Community Partner profiles for funding recommendationCreating project collateral, such as flyers, posters, online surveys, draft emails, etc.Utilize Salesforce to log activities, communicate internally, post updates, and update cross-team records.Administrative duties as assigned.What You Bring:A matriculating college student who has earned enough credits for a sophomore status, or a student who has graduated from college within the preceding six monthsExcellent organizational skillsProactivity and personal initiative to accomplish work and manage challengesStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsAbility to work approximately 30 hours per weekMust have a valid US driver’s licensePreferred Skills:Area of academic study relates to the intern opening (Non-profit Management, Communications, Marketing, Project Management, etc.), strongly preferredInterested individuals should be able to effectively manage responsibilities and meet deadlinesIndividual must have the ability to communicate with community members and business partners of all ages, backgrounds and skill levelsWillingness to engage in productive and challenging workBe open and receptive to feedback and learning opportunitiesInterns will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, including working in a cooperative manner within a team-oriented environmentLocation and Timing: Timing: This is a 10-week internship, starting June 16th, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (30 Hours per week)Location: This position is based in Bethesda, MD/ Hybrid ScheduleStipend: $15 per hourEqual Opportunity StatementBuilding an inclusive, high-performing team that is diverse across lines of personal identity is integral to our success and we are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
