Updated: July 28, 2025 Date Posted: 7.28.25 Location: Amarillo, TXWork Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Workdays: Monday - FridayReports To: Controller Pay Frequency: Bi-WeeklyFLSA Status: ExemptJob SummaryAs the successful candidate, you will plan and direct the accounts payable and receivable activities, for Modern Aviation, which has multiple locations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.Primary ResponsibilitiesManage the accounts payable and receivable team, including recruiting and hiring, conducting performance evaluations, coordinate and conduct onboarding and ongoing training programs, and identify training needsPartner with the Compliance Manager and Lead Accountant, General Ledger on data and accounting integrity items Maintain internal controls, and guidelines, for accounts payable and receivableResponsible for accounts payable, and the vendor payment process, ensuring vendor invoices are properly entered, pay runs are processed timely, and vendor statements and inquiries are followed up onOwn the accounts receivable process ensuring that transactions are properly posted and statements are sent monthlyMonitor customer balances, and follow-up with appropriate collection actions, as neededWork with General Manager’s, on accounts receivable balances, for each Modern FBOPost monthly purchase card file into accounting softwareAccountable for ensuring accounts payable and receivable ledgers are in balanceResponsible for the audit requests, related to accounts payable and receivable, providing timely information and reviews to our external auditorsRespond to ad hoc requests from the Modern organization Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirementsPerform additional responsibilities and duties, as required, to support team and organizational objectivesKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesStrong theoretical and practical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesSelf-motivated and the ability to complete tasks with a minimum of supervisionConsistently demonstrate positive leadership and organizational skills with a keen attention to detailPossess a robust math aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workload pressure of strict deadlines Capability to meet critical deadlines and adapt to circumstances Familiarity with large corporate accounting and multi state accounting department requirements and processesDemonstrate knowledge of management concepts Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products, especially ExcelSolid communication skills, both written, oral, and interpersonalAbility to lead members of the team, ensure successful completion of their goals, and direct tasks of others Passionate in managing and developing team membership while working within a collaborative team environmentEducation And ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or business administration is preferredFive (5) plus years of experience managing direct reports, and with accounts payable and receivable, requiredProficient in accounting software, experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plusCertifications/Licenses CPA will be advantageous but not required Page 2: Manager, Accounts Payable & ReceivableWorking Conditions/Physical Demands Constantly operates a computer and periodically moves around the office to access office machinery, e.g., copy machine Possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand Ability to travel a minimum amount of time across the network, approximately 3 times a year Perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching, and grasping actionsMay be required to occasionally work nights and weekendsNote: The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the job.
