FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST
Fire Protection Specialist The primary function of the Fire Protection Specialist is to provide life safety inspection expertise for the licensure and certification of health care facilities. Requirements may include performing these duties as a team leader, team member or individually as assigned. The incumbent will perform on-site surveys, document findings and prepare reports. The incumbent will provide independent specialized work on all aspects of fire safety, fire prevention and other areas of life safety. Responsibilities also include understanding and enforcement of national, state, and local fire safety NFPA codes and laws. The incumbent may also be required to conduct surveys of other types of licensed providers, as assigned by management. The incumbent must be proficient with computer equipment and software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as smart phone technology. The incumbent must also be available to work before and after normal work hours including weekends and holidays. This position requires successful completion of all Center for Medicare Services (CMS) Quality, Safety & Education Portal (QSEP) training for Life Safety within six (6) months of hire. This position has been identified as mission essential. The incumbent in this position may be required to work during the weekend or on holidays. In addition, mission essential personnel will be required to work during disasters, to include but not limited to, work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency work may involve the incumbent to work in another county or staffing location to assist other State Agencies with emergency work. Emergency duties may include, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
