If you're looking to make a difference in a dynamic, collaborative environment — your future starts here.Position SummaryThis position is responsible for the area of computational methods development in nuclear engineering to aid in developing the general-geometry, continuous energy Peacock Monte Carlo code. The candidate must have education and experience in computational methods development in nuclear reactor physics. Must have experience with large computer codes developed in a project team environment. As this is a programming position, programming and debugging C++ is required, and experience with other programming/scripting languages, such as Python and Fortran, is highly desired. This position will also provide technical support, perform troubleshooting and debug functions, help resolve customer issues, help develop training material, and participate in other product development. Candidate will aid in supporting business development with presentations and demos of products.This position can be remote, however day-to-day work collaboration advantages will be found if the employee if located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Aid in the development of the general-geometry, continuous energy Peacock Monte Carlo code at the coding and methods level. Supporting and troubleshooting software issues related to the code suite.Participate in product development and testing of other SSP products, particularly CASMO5, SIMULATE5/5K, SNF, and HELIOSDocumenting processes and application instructions.Supporting and troubleshooting software issues. Participating in meetings and other company events. Complete customer visits, presentations, and software demonstrations to support business development. Generate innovative ideas and help to nurture new ideas from concept, through pilot, and into mainstream activity. *Travel: Travel expectations are flexible but would likely be 20% or less and include international travel locations. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics is required.Deep experience with development and coding of large software projects written in C++ with strong software debugging skills is required.Experience in and understanding Monte Carlo methods applied to core analysis, criticality, and shielding.Excellent communication skills in the English language, both oral and written, are required.Familiarity of both Windows and Linux operating environments are required.Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders is desirable. Work history in the commercial nuclear industry, and/or experience with SSP products are a plus.Microsoft Office Suite experience is required.
