Assistant Professor

The Columbia University Department of Psychology invites applications for two assistant professor positions. One will begin on July 1, 2026 and the second position, pending budgetary approval, will begin on July 1, 2027. We seek applications from individuals studying human behavior with specializations in Cognitive Science and/or Cognitive Neuroscience that complement current areas of expertise within the Department. Examples of research areas of special interest include perception, attention, learning and memory, cognitive control, language and higher-level cognition and their intersection with other domains of behavior. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of research productivity and teaching commensurate to the level of the faculty position. Individuals with expertise in methods ranging from behavioral methods to neuroimaging, computational approaches, AI, patient studies, psychophysiology and/or individual differences will all be considered. It is expected that the candidates will develop a vigorous independent research program, continuing the long Columbia University record of forefront accomplishment in science. Applicants for the positions must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field and have demonstrated the ability to do pioneering research as well as the promise of excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Review of applications will begin on November 1st and will continue until the positions are filled. Ph.D.
All candidates must have a strong publication record and have demonstrated the potential to establish a vigorous individual research program and to teach effectively using modern tools of instruction.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
