Job DetailsDescriptionPosition Overview:The Sr. Manager, Government Relations leads the organization’s efforts to build, manage, and advance relationships with local, state, and federal government stakeholders. This role develops and executes advocacy strategies that support the nonprofit’s mission, policy priorities, and funding goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator, policy-savvy, and deeply committed to advancing social impact through public policy and public-sector partnerships.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute government relations and advocacy strategies aligned with organizational prioritiesMonitor legislative, regulatory, and budget developments affecting the organization’s missionAnalyze policy proposals and prepare briefings, position statements, and testimonyRepresent the organization in meetings, hearings, coalitions, and other governmental forumsBuild and maintain relationships with elected officials, agencies, and key government staffServe as the primary liaison between the organization and government partnersCoordinate policymaker engagement activities, including site visits, briefings, and eventsIdentify and pursue public funding opportunities such as grants, contracts, and appropriationsCollaborate with internal teams on government funding strategies and compliance requirementsParticipate in and coordinate cross‑sector coalitions and stakeholder advocacy effortsEngage board members, leadership, and community stakeholders in advocacy initiativesAdvise leadership on political and regulatory risks, and prepare internal and external policy communicationsPerform other duties that are reasonably related to the position’s key responsibilities and are consistent with the employee’s job classification, skills, and trainingRequired QualificationsAssociate’s degreeExperience in government relations, public policy, advocacy, or a related roleStrong understanding of legislative and regulatory processesPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, or a related fieldKey CompetenciesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to build relationships across political and ideological linesEffective collaborator with internal and external stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret data and identify trendsWorking ConditionsTravel: Up to 30% Shift Type: Full Time, Exempt, Hybrid (4 days onsite)What We OfferMedical, Dental, and Vision Benefits401(k) Retirement plan and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Personal Health AdvocatePaid vacation, sick time, and holidaysCommuter pre-tax benefitDiscounted childcareAccess to the Calm appTickets at Work employee discountsWe are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
