Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.Program Overview: CAMBA administers services at the Albany Community Center, Boulevard Community Center, Brevoort Community Center, Cypress Hills Community Center, Howard Community Center, Penn Wortman Community Center, Pink Houses Community Center, Sheepshead Bay Community Center, Stuyvesant Gardens Community Center, and Van Dyke Community Center in Brooklyn. All Cornerstone programs are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings, youth leadership, and social services to the neighborhood’s students, their families, and other residents. Activities and services are available after school, evenings, and on weekends.Position: Maintenance WorkerReports To: Supervisor I Location: Various Brooklyn Locations – Cornerstone CentersWhat The Maintenance Worker Does:Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentialityPractice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & ProceduresComply with any and all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health informationMaintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentialityIdentify and report all maintenance issuesAlways comply with all maintenance regulatory requirementsUtilize appropriate safety standards and display safety signs when performing tasksClean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, window blinds, and draperiesClean and sanitize toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, shower fixtures, including walls, floors, curtains, stalls, and mirrorsReplace light bulbs, light fixtures, light covers, electrical outlet covers, and ballasts as neededDust and/or wipe furniture, equipment, and ceiling fansSeparate and transport trash, recyclables, and waste to the disposal area and consolidate for pickupRemove snow and/or ice from the sidewalks, driveways, and stairsPolish metalwork, including lighting fixturesReplenish bathroom supplies, including toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soapWash walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, sills, door panels, heating and cooling vents, and air conditioner filtersPlaster and paint interiors of buildingsReplace door handles or locks as neededMay remove graffiti from interior and exterior surfacesMay replace cracked or missing floor tiles, wall tiles, and ceiling tiles as necessaryMay cut and trim grassMay make minor plumbing and electrical repairsMay escort clients to appointmentsTasks may be modified, expanded, and/or assigned over timeMinimum Education/Experience Required:Sufficient education and technical expertise: to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); to accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasksOther Requirements: Dept. of Health, Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance; and State Central Registry (SCR) clearanceAbility to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employmentCompensation: $17.51 hourlyWhen salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.
