Senior Medical Coder

CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Professional Fee (ProFee) Coder with a strong background in Mental Health and/or Primary Care coding. This role is responsible for accurately reviewing, assigning, and validating CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for outpatient provider services to ensure compliance with federal regulations and payer-specific guidelines.The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of behavioral health documentation standards, E/M coding guidelines, and regulatory compliance within physician practice or outpatient settings. This role requires high accuracy, productivity, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.Hours: 40 hours/week – Monday to Friday, standard business hoursLocation: Remote (CST) – Must reside in TexasPay: Competitive Market RatePosition Type: Consultant – No C2CWork Authorization:Visas are acceptable (any EAD). Candidates must be eligible to work on W2 and must not require sponsorship for at least 6–12 months.What you'll do:Review and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for professional fee services in mental health and/or primary careEnsure compliance with CMS guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirementsInterpret provider documentation to support appropriate code selection and optimal reimbursementAccurately code Evaluation & Management (E/M) services in accordance with current guidelinesIdentify documentation deficiencies and communicate queries to providers when necessaryMaintain productivity and quality standards as defined by the organizationParticipate in coding audits and quality assurance reviewsStay current with annual coding updates, regulatory changes, and payer policy revisionsCollaborate with billing, compliance, and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related denials and discrepanciesWhat we're looking for:Active CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent coding certificationMinimum 2+ years of Professional Fee (ProFee) coding experienceDirect coding experience in Mental Health (Behavioral Health/Psychiatry) and/or Primary CareStrong understanding of E/M guidelines (2021+ changes)Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systemsExperience working in EMR/EHR systemsStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain high coding accuracyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWho Should Apply?This opportunity is ideal for certified Professional Fee coders with hands-on experience in mental health and/or primary care who are confident navigating E/M guidelines and complex provider documentation.
