Network Engineer
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to implement and support the agency's IT network infrastructure. This role involves day-to-day support, documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of enterprise networking technologies, requiring in-depth, hands-on expertise across routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.
ResponsibilitiesSet up, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers.
Identify and diagnose system problems using line monitors, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
Work closely with IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather and validate requirements, specifications, and configurations.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime.
Oversee installation, documentation, and upgrades of agency facility data network infrastructure.
Collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations.
Provide documentation including network architecture topology diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, and access controls.
Work independently on assigned projects.
Required Skills & Certifications8+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and wireless access points.
8+ years demonstrated ability to design, install, and troubleshoot local- and wide-area enterprise networks.
8+ years of direct hands-on engineering and design experience in the networking industry.
8+ years' experience monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security, architecture policies, and standards.
8+ years' experience creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures with fault tolerance.
8+ years' experience with performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery.
8+ years' experience creating network diagrams using industry-standard tools (e.g., Visio).
8+ years' experience with networking protocols/features including ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, BRI/PRI, MPLS.
Industry-standard networking certification required (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA-Junos).
Must physically reside in the US for the duration of the assignment (offshore contractors prohibited).
Preferred Skills & Certifications3+ years' experience working with SDWAN.
3+ years' experience with network topology related to Cloud.
3+ years familiarity/experience with cloud networking.
