Bus Driver (Part-Time)

The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating the school bus according to a daily schedule. He/she must ensure the school bus is in good operating condition at all times, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, regulations and rules of conduct. RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversees the loading and unloading of students, releasing students to authorized individualsTransporting students and staff to and from a variety of school sites/field trips.Attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring safety of passengersMaintains order to insure safety of passengersDocuments and reports disciplinary casesConducts established safety and operational inspection of vehicle prior to useReports any known mechanical repairsMaintains a variety of records and reports including but not limited to mileage, routing and time schedulesAttends meetings, programs and in-service trainings as assignedMaintains current required licenses and certificatesNotifies appropriate individuals of any delays in scheduled routeAssists with some administrative and basic maintenance duties as assigned by supervisorPerforms other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTSA valid State of Maryland CDL-PS ( passenger and school bus endorsements preferred)Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT card)CPR certification preferredThree year driving history (can be obtained from MVA)Background CheckDrug and alcohol screeningAbility to read and interpret a mapAbility to establish and maintain proper conduct and safety of passengers on the school busAbility to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while operating a school bus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
