Accountant

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining cost accounting systems, supporting inventory valuation, and delivering timely financial insights to leadership. This individual will partner closely with operations, procurement, and engineering to ensure accurate product costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting while helping identify opportunities for operational and cost efficiencies. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and partnering cross-functionally to support business performance.Worksite Location: Hybrid/Onsite opportunity in the Minneapolis metro area. Seeking local Twin Cities candidates.Salary Range: $80K - $105K/yr. base salary + bonus potential.Benefits: Comprehensive benefit offerings including medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), and additional employee benefit programs.Roles & Responsibilities Prepare, analyze, and report on manufacturing cost data, including material, labor, and overhead costs Perform variance analysis, including PPV, labor efficiency, scrap, overhead absorption, and product profitability analysis Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements Provide regular reporting and financial insights to leadership regarding cost trends and operational performance Maintain standard costs and assist with updates to bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and overhead rates Ensure accurate inventory valuation and work-in-process (WIP) calculations Assist with monthly and annual physical inventory counts and reconcile inventory variances Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions within the ERP system to ensure data accuracy Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and cost-related reporting Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and engineering to understand cost drivers and validate costing assumptions Assist with annual budgeting processes and standard cost updates Support internal and external audits by providing cost documentation, analysis, and reporting support Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiencies All other duties as assignedRequired Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 2–5 years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferred Strong understanding of bookkeeping, accounting best practices, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience working within ERP systems required; Epicor experience strongly preferred Manufacturing or foundry environment experience strongly preferred Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills required Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and collaborativelyAbout VersiqueVersique: /ver-seek/ adj. being both versatile and unique; n. a high-performance recruiting firm specializing in executive leadership search, direct hire, and interim hiring solutions.Versique Executive, Professional, & Interim Recruiting is a locally owned and operated hiring and placement firm based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
