Oracle Data Migration Developer - Remote
Oracle Data Migration Analyst / DeveloperLocation: RemoteInitial Duration: Until February go-live + approximately 1 month post-go-livePotential Extension: Further phases of the wider transformation programme may provide a longer-term opportunityRole OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Data Migration Analyst / Developer to join a large-scale transformation programme, with responsibility for the analysis, development and execution of complex data migration activities. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong SQL and Oracle database development skills, combined with proven experience delivering data migration within complex transformation programmes. The successful candidate will not simply be responsible for loading migration files. They will be involved throughout the migration lifecycle, including gathering requirements, understanding source data, designing transformation logic, developing SQL, cleansing and transforming data, and preparing and loading data into the target solution.Oracle ERP Cloud experience is beneficial but is not the primary requirement. The key requirement is demonstrable experience delivering complex data migration and the technical ability to develop and troubleshoot SQL-based data transformations.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse data migration requirements across complex transformation programmes.Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand source and target data requirements.Analyse complex, disparate and potentially inconsistent source data.Define how data needs to be cleansed, mapped and transformed for migration.Develop SQL queries and scripts to extract, analyse, manipulate and transform data.Develop and troubleshoot data migration logic independently.Prepare, validate and load Oracle FBDI files.Support end-to-end migration cycles, including mock migrations, data validation and reconciliation.Investigate and resolve data quality and migration issues.Work closely with developers, functional teams and programme stakeholders to ensure migration requirements are understood and delivered.Support the migration of complex customer master, subscription, contract and transactional data.Ensure appropriate relationships and dependencies between data objects are maintained throughout the migration process.Provide hands-on support through go-live and post-go-live migration activities.Essential ExperienceProven data migration experience gained within complex transformation or implementation programmes.Demonstrable experience migrating data from source systems into a new target platform.Experience gathering and analysing migration requirements and translating these into practical data transformation requirements.Strong SQL development skills, including the ability to write complex SQL queries and transformation logic.Strong Oracle database development experience.Hands-on experience analysing, cleansing and transforming large and complex datasets.Experience working with Oracle FBDI files and supporting FBDI-based data loads.Ability to troubleshoot migration issues and independently develop solutions.Experience working as part of a wider technical delivery team.Particularly Valuable ExperienceExperience migrating customer master data.Experience with subscription, contract or transactional data migration.Experience working with complex data objects containing large numbers of fields and dependencies.Experience with data flowing between CRM, ERP, planning, charging or other downstream systems.Experience with Oracle ERP Cloud or other Oracle transformation programmes.Experience in telecoms, subscription-based businesses or similarly complex data environments.Experience with Oracle FBDI across multiple functional areas.German language skills would be advantageous, particularly when working with German-speaking stakeholders.Candidate ProfileThis is a developer-oriented data migration role. We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical skills with the ability to write code and work hands-on with data. The ideal candidate will have been directly involved in migration activities within major transformation programmes, rather than someone whose experience has been limited to supporting migrations or simply loading pre-prepared files.A pure data analyst profile is unlikely to be suitable if they do not have strong SQL development capabilities. Equally, a traditional DBA profile without hands-on data migration and transformation experience would not be appropriate. The ideal background is a Data Migration Analyst / Developer who understands how to take complex migration requirements, analyse the underlying data, develop the required transformation logic and ultimately prepare and load the data into the target system.Around five years of experience working within an Oracle environment would be desirable, although the overall technical background and depth of migration experience will be considered.Programme ContextThe immediate requirement is to support the programme through the February go-live and approximately one month of post-go-live activity. The wider transformation programme is expected to continue beyond the initial go-live, with potential opportunities to support additional phases and programmes over a significantly longer period.Given the collaborative nature of the role, candidates must be comfortable working remotely while maintaining strong availability for meetings and working closely with multiple developers, technical teams and programme stakeholders.
