Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a Docket & Calendar Clerk to join our Docket & Calendar team. There is only one opening.The offices we are considering are: Century City, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego (Del Mar), San Diego (Downtown), San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Washington DC.Job SummaryThe Docket & Calendar Department is a group of hard-working, collegial, and professional individuals who provide critical support for the firm’s diverse case load that spans many different areas of law in jurisdictions all across the United States.This position can be based in any of our offices.This position has a remote/hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation to be in the office on an as needed basis.Essential FunctionsReviewing, analyzing, and implementing client/matter intake forms, closed matters reports, Billing Partner reassignments, and inactive timekeepers reports;Reviewing accuracy of case information and docket information in the firm‑wide docket system The primary responsibility of the Docket & Calendar Clerk is to make sure that our systems contain accurate and up-to-date information with regard to case information, matter status, and timekeepers. Doing so ensures that all necessary parties receive timely notifications of filings, deadlines, and court appearances. This position offers an excellent introduction into the operations of the Docket & Calendar Department and an opportunity to advance to a more senior position in the Department.Required QualificationsThe ideal candidate will be a fast learner, a self‑starter, and resourceful, with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. The ability to multi‑task and complete work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment is essential. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Good communication skills are critical. Typing speed of 40+ wpm with a high degree of accuracy is required.Preferred Qualifications: Strong computer skills (Windows environment, Excel, Word, etc.) are a plus. Law firm experience, or a basic understanding of the U.S. court system and structure, is preferred but not required.EducationRequired: Associate DegreePreferred: Bachelor’s DegreeComputer/Software KnowledgeMicrosoft OfficeWork EnvironmentYou will be based in one of our local Sheppard Mullin offices but will be allowed to work from home. This position is eligible for bonuses. This position is also eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance.
