Construction Estimator (Commercial)

We are a small, family-owned commercial construction company seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Construction Estimator. This role is hands-on and integral to our team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates while working closely with ownership, project managers, and field staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a collaborative environment.Key ResponsibilitiesReview commercial construction plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scopePerform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractorsSolicit, level, and manage subcontractor and supplier bidsWork directly with ownership to develop pricing strategies and bid proposalsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering optionsAssist with budgeting, preconstruction planning, and project handoff to operationsMaintain relationships with local subcontractors, vendors, and clientsSupport project managers with cost tracking and change order pricing as neededMaintain organized records of estimates, bids, and historical cost dataOccasionally visit job sites to better understand scope and conditionsQualifications7+ years of estimating experience in commercial constructionStrong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencingAbility to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specificationsExceptional computer skills (Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, etc.)Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environmentWork EnvironmentOffice-based with occasional local job site visitsCollaborative, small-team setting with direct access to company leadershipFlexible but deadline-driven schedule, especially during bid periodsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experiencePerformance-based bonusesHealth benefits401k matching programPaid time off and holidaysOpportunity for long-term growth within the company
