Firearm Component ProductionPerform a variety of duties associated with production of firearm components. These duties may be manual or machine oriented.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performing routine production work (12-hour shifts) on traditional or CNC type equipment in such areas as:MillingDrillingCutoffBroachingShapingFilingMedia-BlastingSafely handling and transporting materials, parts, finished goods, supplies, tooling, etc., in and out of departmentsPerforming machine loading and assembly tasksKeeping work areas and equipment clean, safe and orderly. Including:Emptying and removing chipsMaintaining a segregated metal scrapPerforming and inspecting for Preventive MaintenanceIf certified, operating forkliftHand counting, sorting and boxing partsUse of hand toolsPerforming other miscellaneous duties and related functions as directed by supervisorFollowing all prescribed methods and proceduresMust be flexible with regard to work assignments, and will be directed to work wherever needed in order to support organizational goalsBe actively involved and willing to complete all training requirements to advance skills and proficiencies.NOTE: This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. The duties and responsibilities listed above may be changed or supplemented at any time in accordance with business needs and conditions.Education and Experience:High School/GED, prior experience working in a manufacturing environmentAppropriate training and experience to fulfill all requirements of work areas described aboveCompetencies and Skills:Must be able to read, write and interpret the English languageBasic computer skills preferredPhysical Demands:12 hour shifts on a rotating 2 week schedule.Continuous: standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reachingOccasional: kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movementMaximum lift: to 30 pounds and assisted liftingOccasional lifting: 0 to 30 poundsNOTE: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floorThe use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
