Computer knowledge and assistive technology.General Summary:Responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for workingwith parents of young children, promoting their involvement and providing information and/ordirection; assisting parents in goal setting and educational development; developing and refiningprogram materials; and assisting in transitioning students to preschool and kindergarten.Performance Responsibilities:1. Provides assistance, instruction and materials to parents/children in the areas of languagestimulation and all areas of early childhood development.2. Offers encouragement, information and instruction in the areas of parent educations andhome-school interaction.3. Considerable knowledge of parent education and outreach practices and programs. Providesage-appropriate developmental information and activities to parents.4. Monitors child behavior for educational, visual, and hearing delays. Refers suspected delays toappropriate school staff.5. Maintains flexible work schedule to accommodate parents' schedules, which may includemornings, evenings, and weekends.6. Maintains appropriate records on participation, attendance, home visits, and group meetings.Schedule and maintain appointments.7. Demonstrate patience and maturity in dealing with young children, parents, teachers, andco-workers.8. Conducts screening activities as required9.
