The school psychologist will work to help students address and resolve personal, emotional and social problems that interfere with their adjustments to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them. The school psychologist will have assigned responsibilities for evaluation, consultation, intervention, and other services to Melvindale-Northern Allen Park students in pre-school through post-secondary school levels that are consistent with MARSE requirements, MDE guidelines and district policies.Role and ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations in compliance with MARSE and IDEAAdminister and interpret tests which may include intelligence, achievement, personality, adaptive behavior, perceptual-motor tests, and behavior rating scalesDetermine eligibility and provide recommendations under MARSE categories, including but not limited to SLD, OHI, EI, CI, ASD, etc. and eligibility under Section 504Use multiple data sources including formal assessments, observations, interviews and progress monitoringPrepare clear, compliant evaluation reports in a timely mannerSupport MTSS, PBIS and data-based decision makingServe as an active member of the MET and IEP teamExplain evaluation results and eligibility determinations to parents and staffAssist in the development of IEP goals, accommodations and behavior support plansProvide school psychological services to any student in need of such servicesDirectly intervene during crisis situations (e.g. threat assessments, suicidal assessments, safety plans) to ensure safety or in the case of tragedy to lower distressSystematically gather information (e.g. Functional Behavior Assessment) needed to determine the need for and, if needed, the specific features of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)Participation in SSTs to develop classroom based approaches to help with one or more students experiencing academic, emotional, behavioral, social, or physical difficultiesTeam with other staff members for extended interventions to help with initial implementation, monitoring, modifications, and ultimately, plans to address student needsCollaborate in program planning and evaluation services for decision-making purposesParticipate in professional development required of student services staffFollow all District guidelines, protocols and proceduresMaintain accurate records and maintain confidentialityExecute other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by administratorThe above duties are general in nature and are not to be construed as all-inclusive.Qualifications and Education RequirementsFull approval preferred, temporary approval accepted for a Michigan School Psychologist CertificationMaster's degree or higher in School PsychologyA passionate commitment to improving learning for all studentsSkills to consult, counsel, and collaborate with pupils, parents, school personnel, and appropriate outside agencies regarding mental health, behavior, and educational concerns utilizing psychology principlesComprehensive understanding of personality development and the assessment of human behaviorSuperior verbal and written communication skillsMastery of broad understanding of learning and learning impairmentsKnowledge of federal and state special education laws and MARSE eligibility criteriaExperience in PK-12 school settings preferredWorking Schedule and Rate of Pay40 week per year position (teacher work calendar)Salary according to master contractDeadline to ApplyJanuary 30, 2026 or until filledPostings current as of 2/19/2026 11:21:29 PM CST.J-18808-Ljbffr
