JOB SUMMARY This role focuses on supporting our smaller-scale mixers, primarily used in sanitary, industrial, and food-based process applications. The incumbent is responsible for preparing mixer quotations that meet the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications. This involves close collaboration with the outside sales team to execute the company’s selling strategy. The role supports the sales representative team by promptly responding to customer questions and inquiries. It also assists with the order reconciliation process and the successful handoff to the Project Management team or the Technical Processing Team, as required. The role may involve entering orders into the ERP system, including all documentation. Qualified candidates will possess the ability to blend technical and commercial sales skills to support and drive business. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides first-line quotation support for custom small-scale mixer solutions to Sales Representatives or other team members as required. Support may be provided through emails, our internal quote portal, CFD analysis, phone calls, conference calls, customer visits, and/or lab testing, independently. Develops a technical written proposal, including all necessary documentation, in response to customer inquiries. Applies engineering principles to translate the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications into the most advisable sales quotation. This may involve coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and sourcing non-standard parts. After completing the initial training period, candidates will be able to complete both process and simple mechanical designs to meet the client’s specifications by performing calculations. This may involve coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and working with the sourcing department or the vendor directly for non-standard parts. More complex mechanical designs will require collaboration with our mechanical engineering team. The expectation is that AE3 will learn and become proficient at process sizing for Solid Suspension, Blending, High Viscosity, and any other applications within the small-scale mixing business. Demonstrates the ability to learn quickly and work independently. Complex sizing, such as gas-liquid and/or specialty markets, may be subject to an internal peer review. More complex process sizing is expected at this level. Works on opportunities that are generally more complex in nature and traditionally higher in dollar value. May require the entry of new inquiries into ERP and CRM systems with correct and complete information per company procedures. May assist with the entry of orders into our ERP system by completing a thorough review of the order requirements and performing a detailed entry of all data necessary to process the order. Determines costs and prices for a complete mixer in accordance with published guidelines for custom solutions. Available to travel approximately 20% of the time. Collaborates cross-functionally with other departments during the quotation and/or order reconciliation process to ensure a quality product consistent with current SPX FLOW policies and to ensure that customer transactions and orders are delivered on time and to specifications. Contributes to technical sales strategy setting with assistance from the Commercial and/or Global Product Management Team for a competitive bid. Files completed projects electronically to create a proper historical record of transactions consistent with Application Engineering team policies. Able to run a complete customer witness or non-witness lab test with little support required from the PTT team. (Not paid process consulting.) Expected to handle customer sales visits with the Regional Sales Manager or individually. Capable of running simple CFD requests and interpreting the results, presenting them to a client. Capable of handling client conference calls individually. Regular attendance and participation in team meetings and trainings is required. Employees are required to maintain a regular working schedule consistent with SPX FLOW guidelines. Exceptions will be allowed with Manager approval. Other job duties and tasks as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel, sales representatives, and customers. Ability to read, interpret, and accurately respond to technical specifications related to mixer applications and mixer design. Knowledge of Lightnin, Philadelphia, and Plenty products (or similar products in the Mixer Industry), including their capabilities and limitations. Understanding of fluid mechanics and rotating equipment. Knowledge of industry engineering standards and the capabilities of Lightnin or equivalent rotary equipment. Good oral and written communication skills; capable of providing concise and accurate technical communications. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and other technical applications. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to develop alternative solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience with rotating equipment or equivalent industrial experience is required. The anticipated salary range is what we believe to be the likely base salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual salary for this position will depend on relevant qualifications, skills, and experience.
