Job Title: Director of DevelopmentReports to: Executive DirectorLocation: Philadelphia, PAType: Full-Time, ExemptSalary Range: $70,000–$90,000, commensurate with experiencePosition SummaryThe Anderson Monarchs (Philadelphia Youth Organization) seeks a strategic, self- directed Director of Development to lead the organization’s fundraising efforts, strengthen donor relationships, and expand revenue streams in alignment with its mission and future growth. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will manage all aspects of development—from major gifts and institutional funding to campaign planning and donor engagement—at a pivotal moment in the organization’s trajectory, including a $4.2M capital and capacity-building campaign (the “42 Fund”), which is now underway and will be a primary focus of the Director of Development upon hire.This role is ideal for a development professional with significant experience in nonprofit fundraising and relationship management, a demonstrated ability to secure major gifts, and a passion for advancing equity through sports-based youth development. The Director of Development will serve as a visible ambassador for the Monarchs, cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual, corporate, and institutional supporters.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFundraising Strategy & Campaign LeadershipLead the design and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual and campaign-specific revenue goals.Serve as the lead development strategist for the capital and capacity-building campaign, in close coordination with the Executive Director and Board.Develop compelling cases for support and donor-facing materials aligned with organizational priorities and goals.Partner with the Executive Director, staff, community members and Board to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and funders.Individual & Major Donor CultivationIn partnership with the Executive Director, Founder and Board, build and manage a robust individual giving program, with a focus on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.Create and implement stewardship strategies to deepen donor engagement and retention.Institutional Giving & Grant ManagementLead grant strategy, research, writing, and reporting for foundation, corporate, and government funders.Maintain a calendar of deadlines for proposals, reports, and renewals; ensure timely submissions and high-quality materials.Donor Communications & EventsDevelop and oversee fundraising communications, including appeals, newsletters, acknowledgements, campaign updates, and impact reports.Oversee sponsorship opportunities and donor recognition efforts. QualificationsSignificant experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record of securing individual major gifts and institutional support.Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders including donors, board members, alumni, and community partners.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas with clarity and enthusiasm.Strong project management and organizational skills with excellent attention to detailSelf-starter with strategic thinking, strong planning and organizational abilities, and comfort working both independently and collaboratively.Commitment to racial and social equity and deep alignment with Philadelphia Youth Organization’s mission and values.BenefitsCompetitive salary, benefits and PTO policyFlexible work schedule with some remote flexibility and occasional evening/weekend event supportOpportunity to lead a transformational campaign during a dynamic period of growthStrong support from a committed team and Board
