Automation Technician I

Location: Mt. Sterling, ILDepartment: Automation MaintenanceReports To: Equipment & Automation SupervisorWage Range$34.35 to $43.82 per hour (includes nightshift differential)As an Automation Technician you will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and troubleshoot PLC programs associated with automated systems and material handling equipment. You'll help keep automated operations running safely and reliably through preventative maintenance, repairs, assisting in equipment fault recovery, and continuous improvement.WHAT YOU'LL DOPerform hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and installations on automated systems and material handling equipment to support safe and reliable operations.Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on automated systems and equipment—including stretch wrappers, pallet handling and sorting equipment, battery handling equipment, conveyors, and associated electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled systems.Respond to equipment faults and breakdowns, assisting with rapid recovery efforts to minimize downtime and restore system performance.Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history through consistent use of the CMMS.Collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to support automation upgrades, system improvements, and ongoing operational needs.Follow all safety, LOTO, and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture across all automated and material handling systems requirements.Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste; lead continuous improvement effortsYOU MUST HAVE High school diploma or general equivalency degreeValid driver's licenseSufficient vision and hearing necessary to perform duties safelyStrong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systemsExperience in industrial maintenance or a similar technical fieldYOU MAY ALSO HAVE Associate degree, electrician's certificate or military equivalent2+ years of industrial maintenance experiencePLC (Allen-Bradley) troubleshooting experiencePrior experience working with automated systemsSafety training and/or certificationROLE SPECIFICS Schedule: Full Time, Sunday-Wednesday, 7:00PM – 5:30AMWorking in -5 to 95-degree temperatures for extended timeframesWorking at heightsSubject to mandatory overtime and on call schedulesWHO WE ARE Dot Foods makes products more accessible and affordable to the food industry.
