Position Overview We are seeking a dependable Grapple Operator to join our team. This heavy equipment operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a hydraulic grapple to load, sort, and organize materials for transport or disposal. This role is critical to our yard management and site clean-up efficiency, requiring precision, a strong commitment to safety, and reliable focus. A Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required as this role involves operating heavy-duty trucks and tractor-trailers to move equipment and materials. Key Responsibilities Operation: Safely and efficiently operate equipment fitted with a grapple attachment to sort, stack, lift, and load materials such as debris, logs, scrap, and brush. Transport & Logistics: Operate Class A Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV), including tractor-trailers or heavy-duty straight trucks, to transport equipment and materials (e.g., loaded dumpsters, heavy machinery) to and from job sites or disposal facilities. Loading/Unloading: Load roll-off dumpsters and trailers accurately and efficiently, ensuring all loads are secured, balanced, and comply with weight and transport regulations. Yard Management: Organize and consolidate materials in the yard, minimizing contamination, maximizing storage space, and maintaining an orderly and safe working environment. Maintenance Checks: Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift equipment and vehicle inspections, including thorough checks of the tractor, trailer, and grapple systems. Report any mechanical issues immediately. Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all Federal, State, and Local Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including hours-of-service, and company safety protocols. Communication: Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate service and transport. Qualifications At least 21 years old (required for interstate Class A CDL travel) with a proven track record of safe commercial driving. A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is REQUIRED. Minimum of 1 year of direct experience operating a hydraulic grapple or similar material handling equipment is required. A clean driving record is required. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices, including load securement. Strong spatial reasoning and demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery with precision and speed. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing into and out of the cab and conducting vehicle checks in varying weather conditions. Compensation & Benefits Competitive wage, paid biweekly.
