Early Intervention Specialist - Bilingual Spanish Preferred

Job Summary: The Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) position provide hands on developmental services for children and families in the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program in Brazoria County. Services are mostly provided in the child’s natural environment, so the applicant must be comfortable making home visits and driving to homes throughout the day. Home visits include parent education and working directly with the child on their development. The EIS must be able to administer developmental evaluations and screenings and write effective treatment plans. The individual must be able to work in a team environment, and with professionals in the community. Strong communication and documentation skills are required to meet billing requirements and strict timelines. This position will be directly supervised by the Early Intervention Specialist Team Lead. Essential functions: 1. Participate with other disciplines and parents in establishing the child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) 2. Provide developmental services at a frequency and intensity determined by the interdisciplinary team in the child’s natural environment 3. Monitor child’s progress and review/update intervention strategies 4. Submit documentation/reports according to ECI and BACH requirements and timelines 5. Facilitate interactions between caregivers and child, using daily routines and activities to help family reach desired outcome 6. Attend staff meetings, in-services and scheduled meetings as required by supervisor 7. Support BACH at fundraisers and community events as needed Qualifications: 1. Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 2. Degree must be in one of the following: 1. Adaptive Physical Education (with or without teacher certification) 2. Child Development 3. Child Life 4. Communication Disorders 5. Early Childhood (with or without teacher certification) 6. Elementary Education (with or without teacher certification) 7. Family Studies 8. Health 9. Psychology 10. Social Work 11. Sociology 12. Special Education (Teacher certification not required) 13. Other equivalent degrees with ECI State Office approval Or 14. 18 hours of college credit, verified by an official transcript with a passing grade, that is directly related to early intervention 3. Maintain Current CPR and First Aid certification 4. Maintain ECU’s as appropriate 5. Strong interpersonal Skills and the ability to work withing a team environment. Cooperative and willing to assist others. Excellent organizational skills 6. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License 7. Participate in the Central Registry and criminal background check, including fingerprinting every two years 8. Must be able to pass random drug screenings Working Conditions: 1. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects 2. Drive for long periods of time 3. Must be able to physically get on and off the floor 4. Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time 5. Must be able to walk, stand, sit, crawl, twist, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, see, hear, write, count, read and tell time 6. Working conditions include working closely with others, working alone, occasional excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces 7. Work under stringent deadlines 8. Able to work with flexibility with daily tasks and change as needed 9.
