Hadoop / Software Engineer

Role: Software Engineer / Hadoop Duration: 4 months (W2)Position Location: Hybrid (Pittsburgh PA, Cleveland OH, Strongsville OH, Dallas TX, Phoenix AZ)Summary:Responsible for the provisioning of any IT development, analysis, Information management (DBA), or QA requiring specialized knowledge of a niche technology.Job Responsibilities:• Modify existing databases and database management systems.• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.• Perform other duties as assigned.POSITION PROFILE:• Responsible for building out some of the capabilities that will be implemented.• Testing a number of new capabilities for the Hadoop platform• Working with customers to resolve any issues that they encounter as the get up and running• Creation of user documentation/training materials• Code optimization - as the connections and conditions change, update;• Planning and executing user program migration -- (Go through user programs making sure coordinating production, make sure it's up and running)Describe the must have technical skills/experience (ask for alternative/tool/version) of the position in priority order:• Apache Impala• Apache Spark• Bash, Python and C/C++.• Creating End User Training Manuals• End User Training• Hadoop Cloudera• Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)• PySparkIs there anything you are willing to flex on if there is not a candidate under the current market conditions with all your must have skills?• Python - preferred;Tell me about some soft skills that would make a candidate successful in this role:• Communication skills (verbal and written)• Planning and prioritization• Presentation skills (leadership)Are there 2-3 screening questions that suppliers can ask prior to submittal and submit with the candidate’s resume that would provide insight on their fit for this role?Tell me about your experience and how you find it relevant to the role.
