Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting automated manufacturing systems to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to integrate automation solutions, optimize existing systems, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and implement automated systems for manufacturing and production processesProgram, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systemsSupport installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation equipmentImprove system reliability, uptime, and performance through root cause analysis and continuous improvementCollaborate with Operations and Maintenance to reduce downtime and improve OEEDevelop and maintain automation documentation, schematics, and SOPsEnsure automation systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirementsSupport new product introductions and equipment upgradesManage automation-related capital projects and vendor relationshipsProvide technical training and support to maintenance and production teamsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineeringHands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)Experience with HMIs, robotics, servo systems, and industrial networksStrong troubleshooting skills in electrical, controls, and automated systemsFamiliarity with manufacturing safety standards and machine guardingAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience in industrial manufacturing, machinery, automotive, aerospace, or packagingExperience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar)Vision systems and motion control experienceKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologiesExperience with SCADA systems and data collectionKey CompetenciesAutomation & Controls ExpertiseProblem Solving & Root Cause AnalysisProject ManagementCross-Functional CollaborationSafety & Quality FocusContinuous Improvement MindsetWork EnvironmentThis role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment and may require time on the shop floor and occasional travel.Please submit a resume for consideration.
